Alicia went through the FilmStruck selection process in the year 2015. Malone recorded Robert Osborne's and Ben Mankiewicz's introductions and read them out loud in front of the cameras before her TCM broadcasting channel hosting audition. Malone auditioned for a Turner Classic Movies hosting position. They hired her January the following year. Malone discussed the difficulties women face in the movie business twice during TEDx talks. Maree was also featured on other TV programs too, like Today NPR CNN The Movies documentary MSNBC Access Hollywood E!
