John Denver became a star thanks to the folk songs he composed, the majority of them located in Colorado. He was born Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. in Roswell New Mexico, the singer-songwriter fell in the love of Colorado and later settled in Aspen. Denver's state anthems inspired numerous people to go to Colorado. G. Brown, curator of the Colorado Music Hall of Fame stated that John Denver is the only musician to truly embody Colorado. Denver was the very initial Hall of Fame inductee in 2011. Today, he is the international face of Colorado. Through my travels I've encountered individuals from New Zealand or the other side. If you inform that you're from Colorado, the first words they say are"Oh John Denver. Brown said. Take Me Home Country Roads - cowritten with Bill Danoff - was Denver's first Top 10 single as a solo artist following a short stint in small folk bands. Danoff composed the track with the inspiration of Johnny Cash, but Denver could hear an early version of the song and realized it would become one of the Top 10 hits. The track was released just two weeks following that Washington D.C. performance.
